What we do
Every engagement is designed around your organisation's needs. The areas below show the kinds of work a typical project involves - most clients start with one and grow into others.

drag to exploreNew or existing, how do we measure and use data?
Programmes are often built without a process to capture whether they're working. We start from the impact you're trying to prove and work backwards: what would demonstrate it, what data generates that evidence, and how that data should be collected, structured, and stored. Working from user stories and the real capacity of your team, we produce the measurement framework and system design your developers can build against, so the right data is captured from day one rather than reconstructed later.
What you receive
- Impact-to-data map - what you need to prove, and the data that proves it
- Monitoring & evaluation framework - indicators per component, site, or deployment
- Data collection design - what's captured, by whom, and through what process
- System architecture & requirements - user stories and a brief your developers can build from
You've got data - how do you make sense of it and act on it?
Most organisations are sitting on data that could be doing more, whether that's making their case to funders or driving day-to-day decisions. We help on both. We work out what your data is actually telling you, build the impact framework that separates what you can evidence from what you can't yet, and turn it into something a funder, board, or government audience will trust. And where the problem is that data never reaches the people making decisions, we build the tools that fix it: dashboards, reporting, and decision-support systems sized to your team and budget. Where a build is simple we do it directly (Excel, Power BI, R, Python); where it's bigger we write the brief so you can bring in the right partner. Either way you keep something your team can run without us.
What you receive
- Impact framework - what you claim, what you can evidence, and how the gap closes
- Analysis & interpretation - what your data shows, in plain terms
- Funder- and board-ready reporting - narrative and visuals built for a specific audience
- Decision-support tools - dashboards and reporting built for how your organisation actually works
- Technical requirements brief & handover - a procurement-ready spec where a build is needed, and documentation so your team can maintain it
Where should this programme be in five years, and how does it get there?
Whether you're struggling to really make change, or starting a new project or programme, we can support development. Through facilitated workshops we surface the assumptions your programme rests on and build a theory of change that makes its logic explicit and testable. From there we develop the strategy: the priorities, the growth pathway, and - where scaling is the goal - how you align with the frameworks that govern your field (IMO, IPBES, CBD, IWC) and build the evidence-based case to embed your work in policy. We're doing exactly this with WRAS, developing the strategy that's moving it from a voluntary app in British Columbia toward regulated maritime navigation across continental North America.
What you receive
- Facilitated workshops - structured sessions that surface assumptions and build alignment across your team, board, or partners
- Theory of change - how your activities lead to outcomes and impact, made explicit and testable
- Stakeholder & landscape analysis - who matters, where the leverage is, and which frameworks govern your field
- Programme strategy - priorities and a growth pathway, with a clear rationale behind each decision
- Advocacy & scaling plan - the route from good idea to embedded policy, where scaling is the goal
How we work
Project engagements
Typically 4-10 weeks. A defined scope, a specific deliverable, a clear end point. Most measurement design and analysis work falls here. We scope Phase 1 precisely; subsequent phases are defined on completion of the first.
Strategic partnerships
6-12 month arrangements for organisations that need ongoing data strategy, monitoring oversight, or programme development support. Structured as a retainer with defined monthly scope.
Who we work with
NGOs, government agencies, environmental startups, and corporate sustainability teams - across marine, terrestrial, biodiversity, and sustainability. We bring in specialist partners where specific domain expertise is needed.
Not sure which service fits?
A face-to-face conversation is much better than reading a menu - each problem is nuanced and specific. Book a call and we'll figure out together what would actually help.
